In India

This is the hub of all the activity of the Apostolate. Here at the office located in the Cathedral House, under the direction of the Most Reverend Stephen Athipozhiyil, Bishop of Alleppey, Sister Rita Peter of the Canossian Sisters and her staff distribute the aid to the families sent by sponsors overseas.

The poor congregate at this location to either sign up for assistance or to talk over their problems with the staff. It is indeed a very busy place with always a line of people waiting at the door.

Sr. Rita Peter
I am Sr. Rita Peter Elavunkal. I belong to Canossian Congregation for the past 34 years. Now I reside at Canossa convent, Alleppey. In my service I was always engaged to work for the upliftment of the poor and marginalized. I am in touch with Alleppey Diocese for the last 10 years. I lost my parents in the year 1980’s and I have one brother and six sisters who are all settled in marriage. I was requested by my Provincial Superior to render service in the Franciscan Family Apostolate and willingly accepted the same. I devote my time and energy to the poor of the area and I am also the liaison between the families and their sponsors.

Aniamma Benny:
She was born in Alleppey, as the daughter of Lonappan and Bridgit and her father is no more.   She is working in the FFA since 1991.  She has husband and three children. Her husband Benny is the one who does the art work of FFA construction albums and he is also an evangelist.   Their son Cecil Dioes is studying in the 3rd grade and daughters Sara Maria and Jith Claire are not aged for school.  Her mother is staying with them and they are staying near Alleppey railway station.

Beena Thomas:
She was born in Alleppey.  She is the only daughter of Paul and Thresiamma and her father expired.  She is working in the FFA since 1990. She has husband and two children.  Her husband Thomas is working as a clerk in Civil station and their daughter Megha Mary is studying in the 1^st grade, little Midhun Paul is going to play school.  Her mother is staying with them.  They are staying in Arattuvazhy, Alleppey.

Lilly Arulappan:
She was born in Alleppey, as the daughter of Francis and Mary and her father expired.   She is working in the FFA since 1984.  She was married to Arulappan in 1986 and their wedlock is blessed with two children. Arulappan is working as a clerk in Panchayat office.  Their daughter Mary Bessy is studying in the 12^th grade and son Francis Xavier is studying in the 9^th grade.  They are staying in Vattayal, Alleppey.

Darley Sunil:
She was born in Alleppey and married to Sunil in 1991.  They are staying in Mararikulam, Alleppey.  She is the daughter of Joseph and Irene.   She is working in the FFA since 1992.  Her husband Sunil is doing coir carpet work in his own loom.  Their son Augustin is studying in the 10^th grade and daughter Maria is studying in the 6^th grade.  Sunil’s mother is staying with them. 

Soona	Sofia	Karoline	Babu

Soona Monichan:
She was born in Alleppey.  She is the youngest daughter of Yohannan and Reetha and her father expired.  She joined in the FFA since 2003.  She has husband and a son. Her husband is doing coir carpet rubberizing work in a private company.  Their son Alan Marydas is not aged for school.  Monichan’s mother, younger brother and younger sister are staying with them in Vattayal, Alleppey.

Sofia Thomas:
She was born in Alleppey as the elder daughter of Clement and Metilda.  She is working in the FFA since 1999.  She has husband and two children and Thomas is working abroad.  Their elder daughter Lancy is studying in the 1^st grade and younger one Liya is not aged for school.  Thomas’s mother is staying with them.  They are staying near Civil Station, Alleppey.

Karoline Peter:
She was born in Alleppey.  She is the daughter of Varghese and Mariamma.   She is staying along with her parents.  They are staying near Bishop’s House, Alleppey. She is working in the FFA since 1999. Her husband is running a small workshop.  Their only daughter Neha Theresa is studying in the 7^th grade.

Varghese Joseph (Babu):
He was born in Alleppey.  He is the son of Joseph and Thresiamma and his father expired last month.   He is working in the FFA since 1993.  He has wife and two children.  His wife Mini is helping in a school.  Their elder son Thomaskutty is studying in the 4^th grade and younger son Georgekutty is studying in 1^st grade.  Babu’s mother is staying with them in Chathanad, Alleppey.
