Sponsorship FAQs
- Do all the funds go to the family?
The recommended donation is $25.00 per month. Of this amount, approximately 85% is sent to India for family support; the balance is used for administrative expenses and community development projects which will also benefit your family.
If you are using Paypal to remit your donation please add 4% to your donation (approximately $1 for a $25 donation) to cover the PalPal charges.
- What is the Community Development Fund?
This fund is a pool fund that accumulates over the year. The decision as to where this should go is decided on by the FFA Board of Directors at the annual meeting. For the last five years it has gone to housing construction, monsoon relief and the medical fund for our families.
- Who are our Sponsors?
They come from various walks of life - moms and dads, single women and men, priests, monks and cloistered nuns. Anyone with a commitment to the poor keeps this wonderful apostolate going.
- Why do you recommend sending funds monthly when the money goes to India quarterly?
We have found that most sponsors find remembering a monthly or yearly donation far easier than a quarterly one. It also gives us time to get necessary paperwork done in a timely fashion for getting funds to India. If you wish to donate quarterly please contact our office.
- How are families in India selected?
Families are chosen based on need, they can be of any creed or race. The FFAs only concern is to help families get out of poverty. Families apply for need or are recommended for assistance either directly to the FFA India office or to the local parish priest who forwards his recommendation to the FFA India office. A member of our India staff visits the family to ascertain their need, takes photographs and writes a biography of the family.
- Can I sponsor more than one family at a time?
Certainly! Many of our sponsors have two or more families they sponsor. If you are able to help more than one family, we welcome your support.
